Piast Meats & Provisions

Founded in 1991 by Henry and Maria Rybak, Piast Meats & Provisions brings the authentic flavors of southern Poland to the US. This family-owned business began in Maplewood, NJ, with recipes originating from Mrs. Rybak's mother's kitchen. Named after Poland’s first royal dynasty, Piast signifies traditional Old World elegance. Piast quickly established itself as a destination for homemade Polish sausages, cold cuts, and pierogi. Their second location, a larger store in Garfield, NJ, models traditional Polish meat markets offering a wide range of groceries, dairy, candies, and prepared foods. In 2002, a smaller Garfield store with its own butcher shop was added. In 2009, Piast opened its flagship store, "The Castle," on Passaic St., featuring takeout meals, homemade meats, Polish and European groceries, baked goods, and imported beer and spirits. The store’s atmosphere is a blend of modernity and Old World charm, enhanced by the aromas of breaded pork chops, smoked kielbasa, and stuffed cabbage. Above the store are two floors of beautiful party rooms for on-premise catering. Today, Piast offers over 100 varieties of homemade kielbasa, hams, bacons, cold cuts, and artisan jerky produced in their smokehouses. Their pierogi, handmade with care, are world-famous. As Martin Rybak, son and partner, explains, “People are returning to their roots, favoring locally made foods that stimulate the local economy and offer transparency and quality you can trust.
