Dr. A Sajidas | International Biogas Consultant & Trainer
Dr. A. Sajidas has designed different models of organic waste treatment biogas plants to meet the requirement of different category of beneficiaries from domestic and institutional level. These plants are designed to be installed under the ground or over the ground and include portable types as well. The specialties of some of the models are explained here.
1. Institutional Biogas Plants
These Institutional Biogas Plants are designed to cater to the needs of hostels, schools, convents, hospitals, industrial organizations, etc. The wastes generated will be treated by a hygienic waste disposal method, in an eco-friendly manner.
2. Night soil Biogas Plants
These types are used in Convents, Hostels, Hospitals, etc.. where people are coming in to stay occasionally. The night soil (human excreta) generated will directly be fed into the treatment plant automatically in a hygienic way for production of biogas. This is a cost effective program as the construction of separate septic tank for the storage of waste can completely be avoided.
3. Waste to Electricity Projects
These types of plants are used in public markets, slaughter houses and other large public institutions for the treatment of easily degradable bio wastes, waste water, blood etc.. by applying bio methanisation technology. Here the waste will be treated hygienically at the source of origin itself to generate electricity which can be used for meeting the electricity requirements of the institution including the operation of the treatment plant.
4. Integrated Waste treatment Projects
Different types of waste, such as easily decomposing type slowly decomposing types etc. can be treated in this plant. The integrated waste treatment plant is a unique one in that, in all other types of plants only a single technology is applied for treating a particular group of waste, whereas in the integrated waste treatment plant different technologies are applied for treating different types of wastes in a single plant and here the treatment rate is more than 95%. In centralized treatment plants where aerobic technologies are applied, a huge quantity of waste will remain as non treated. But in BIOTECH developed integrated plants, non treated waste will almost be nil.
5. Domestic Biogas Plants
As many as 10 different models of domestic waste treatment plants have been designed and developed. The beneficiaries can select any model according to their requirement. These plants are suitable for treatment of all bio degradable waste and organic waste water generated in the house. The biogas generated from this plant can be utilized for cooking purposes. These plants are sufficient to meet more than 50% of the energy required for the cooking everyday.
6. Portable Plants
Dr. Sajidas had already designed portable plants for being used in places where installation of plants on the ground is not possible either because of hardness of the soil for excavating a pit or on account of high water rise grounds.
7. Eco friendly Toilets
The Bio waste and night soil (Human excreta) produced in the domestic household are converted into cooking gas by applying hygienic treatment technologies, including eco-friendly toilets. For the people living in coastal areas, marshy lands, and high water rise places, this type of toilets is suitable. Here also the construction of a separate septic tank can be avoided.
