Delta Ticketing Fees

Delta Air Lines has a range of ticketing fees that travelers should be aware of when booking flights. These fees can vary depending on the type of ticket purchased, the route, and the fare class. For example, Delta charges a fee for changes made to certain types of tickets. For domestic flights within the U.S. and flights between the U.S. and Mexico, Canada, or the Caribbean, change fees can be as high as $200, depending on the fare class. For international flights, the fees can be even higher, sometimes reaching $500 or more. However, Delta has eliminated change fees for most tickets in its main cabin, Comfort+, First Class, Delta Premium Select, and Delta One fare classes on flights originating in North America. Despite this, basic economy tickets, which are the least expensive, are generally non-refundable and non-changeable, meaning that changes or cancellations typically result in the forfeiture of the ticket’s value. In addition to change fees, Delta may also charge a fee for ticket reissuance if changes are made after the ticket has been issued. For award tickets, which are booked using SkyMiles, there is a $150 redeposit fee for miles if the ticket is canceled or changed after the initial booking, although this fee is waived for SkyMiles Platinum and Diamond Medallion members. Delta also imposes fees for excess baggage, priority boarding, and seat selection in certain fare classes. Understanding these fees is crucial for passengers looking to avoid unexpected costs when booking and managing their travel plans with Delta.
