Hope Development Volunteers

Hope Development Volunteers is a not-for-profit social enterprise founded in 2009 with offices in Uganda, with operations in Kenya and Tanzania.

Hope Development Volunteers is running a skills, talents, culture and hospitality exchang program - In return for your volunteer help; Our African hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about their lifestyles.

All our programs involve volunteering with local families around Africa in exchange for free meals and accommodation. This is a fact that money shouldn’t to stand in our way and stop you from travelling and giving back to the communities in need.

This is a great opportunity for long-and short-term budget travelers. Many families are willing to host volunteers for a few weeks or even a few days. It does mean spending part of your vacation working, but if you’re interested in cultural travel and language exchange, traveling doesn’t get much more local than literally living with a local family and sharing in their daily activities.

We connect people who want to volunteer in Africa with people who are looking for volunteer help.

The idea behind our free-tailor made volunteering is simple but effective. You tell us your skills and talents and we find you a volunteering position that matches with your education, skills and interests. Usually, this only has to take three to five days. (No Program fees, No Accommodation fees, No Food fees) it's totally a free culture and skills exchange program. You just share your skills, talents with the local community; they share their food and accommodation with you!!

Why Choose Us?

Affordability: Our volunteer programs are free with a one-time application fee of $100 at the time of booking but being free does not mean we cut back on our quality. Our volunteer hosts are safe, comfortable, and inviting. We work hard to provide you with the best quality accommodation and a truly amazing volunteer experience.

Benefit to Communities: Hope Development Volunteers works directly with local communities in Africa to ensure they get support both from volunteers and our team. A constant flow of volunteers means that these people and parts of communities are getting constant support both financially and personally.

Quick & Personal: We work as a team and are always there to help you and answer your questions. We aim to reply to your e-mails within 6-8 working hours or less. You can also reach us by phone or leave a message to have a quick reply back to your queries. Our goal is to make sure you are completely comfortable before you leave for Africa.
