In June 1997, the first McDonald's restaurant opened its doors in Phinikoudes, Larnaca, Cyprus. Established by Family Restaurants Co. Ltd., a company founded by Michalis Andreou and Margit Andreou, with the support of Renos Andreou, McDonald's has grown to encompass 16 restaurants across the non-occupied areas of Cyprus (distributed as 7 in Nicosia, 3 in Limassol, 2 each in Larnaca and Paphos, and 1 each in Ayia Napa and Protaras).
